Adoption Process

GLR is proud to partner with James River Greyhounds (JRG) in an effort to find loving homes for retired racing greyhounds around the Central Virginia region.

​

Greyhounds being fostered at the GLR shelter are placed into loving homes through the JRG Adoption Process as described on the JRG website.   

​

If you are interested in adopting a greyhound, please fill out a JRG adoption application by clicking the button below or going through the JRG website.

Adoption Fee

$475

What's Included

  • Spay or neuter (including vet exam)

  • Heartworm blood test and first month prevention

  • Rabies vaccination

  • DHPPC vaccination

  • Dental care

  • Thorough deworming with Drontal Plus

  • Microchip

  • Ears cleaned, nails clipped & groomed

  • Transportation from track kennel to Richmond

  • If applicable, personal care and transition training in the loving homes of our foster families! 

  • Adoption Kit with the following:

    • Martingale collar and matching 6 foot lead - designed specifically for sighthounds, track muzzle, dental kit & squeakee toy
